Primary children’s views about appreciating, supporting, and learning about nature

Biology education aims to inspire interest, curiosity, and understanding about the natural world, foster children’s interests orientations towards supporting protecting nature, support children biology-related careers (including those involving nature animals). However, it remains less clear how these views might associate with different aspects of life. In order gain new insights, 679 in England (between 7 10 years old) were surveyed. The questionnaire included established measures for learning, alongside areas. analysis applied predictive modelling reveal independent associations between views. appreciation affinities animals two strongest positive predictors their interest learning which was predictor aspirations or animals. Other findings highlighted importance nature-related activities also wider educational contexts Watching media positively predicted while reading books wildlife Children’s confidence enjoyment schoolwork nature.
